Cecchetti

The Cecchetti method is a ballet technique created by Italian ballet master Enrico Cecchetti (1850–1928). The method creates balance, poise, strength, elevation, flexibility, and artistry, in every dancer.

Cecchetti was one of the first ballet masters to integrate anatomy knowledge and ballet theory in his teachings. While studying the Cecchetti method students will gain a well-rounded ballet education. They will learn ballet technique, anatomy, theory, and history in every class.

Students will also have the option to take ballet examinations. Today the Cecchetti method is preserved through Ballet Councils around the world. These committees uphold his standard of teaching and preserve his method. At the Chesapeake Academy of Dance, students will be able to learn the syllabus and take exams. Each level progresses at the student’s pace. Some students will take annual exams, others will not. Here we value this individuality and will not place a student in an exam unless they are ready.
