Student drop off and pick up
Please arrive a few minutes before class time. Ensuring the student is in dress code, hair is done, and they have gone to the bathroom. Preparing them to be focused and ready for class on time.
The studio is not responsible for before or after care for your child. Older students may wait in the lobby for their parents if your child is not in the last class of the day. All young students must be picked up promptly as to not disrupt the following class, or create stress for your child.
Students will need an adult upon pick up. If your child has permission to leave the building alone please email, or call the office.
If you are running late for picking your child up please contact the office.
We know you are excited about your child's class and progress. Given the tight schedule of classes please refrain from discussing your child's progress before or after class. We would be happy to schedule a teacher conference to discuss your child's progress. Call or email the office to set up an appointment.
Students must wear cover-ups when walking to and from the building.
Dance shoes are not to be worn outdoors: this damages their shoes and our studio floors.
Class Time
Parents may wait for their children in the lobby. Parents, guardians, or other visitors are not allowed inside the classroom; unless invited by their teacher or the artistic director.
Teaching. Dance is a physical activity that requires proper body alignment for safety. Sometimes, hands-on corrections are needed. If your child is uncomfortable with touch please reach out to the school director. We will work with you to learn about the best way to help educate your child. Ensuring a non-invasive or stressful classroom for them.
Cell phones: students must turn their phones off while in dressing rooms.
If the student needs to contact their parents, their teacher will excuse them from class so they may do so.
Phones must be silenced during classes, and inside their dance bags.
During water or bathroom breaks cell phone use is not allowed. If cell phones are being used during a break, or class, the office may hold the phone until the end of class.
Although uncommon, if a child's behavior is disrupting learning for other children in the class they may be asked to sit out for the day. If the behavior persists for multiple classes then a conference with a guardian will be held to better understand and mitigate the issue.
Building Policies
Please be respectful of ongoing classes. Keep voices at a non-disruptive level.
Beverages: Plain water only inside the classroom. ( no flavored or sugar waters inside the classroom). Any other drinks may be enjoyed in the lobby
Food is only allowed in the lobby. No food in classrooms. Please clean up any mess made in the lobby.
The studio is not responsible for lost or stolen objects. Please do not bring unnecessary valuables to the studio. The studio will have a lost and found bin this is a safety measure not a guarantee for your object.
Levels and Private lessons
Students aged 8 years or older may take private lessons. Payment for the private lesson is due upon scheduling.
If a conflict arises and there is a need to reschedule please do so 24 hours in advance. Rescheduling after this time is not refunded or transferred.
Not all students will progress in all styles of dance the same, or every year.
At the end of the year, your child will be invited to the next level when they can progress.
An invitation to the next level will take into account, age, technique, and maturity.
Attendance and Tuition
Tuition is non-refundable or transferable. Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance.
From September until January if your child is sick or is out of class due to an injury then a makeup lesson in a class suggested by their teacher may be taken. The lesson must be taken within 2 weeks of the missed class.
After January the studio will begin to work on specific choreography with each class and makeup lessons will not be held. During this time frame if your child misses 3 consecutive classes a private lesson will need to be scheduled with their teacher to catch them up to their peers.
Tuition also accounts for the occasional weather-related closure. Students will be able to take makeup lessons for these missed classes.
Billing/ Tuition
Payments are due by the 5th of every month regardless of attendance or holidays.
Tuition is based on a yearly schedule, not on the number of classes. Meaning that months with holidays or fewer days in them are not discounted. And longer months are not billed more. Each month's tuition is an installment for a yearly rate.
Returned checks will incur a $30 service charge payable to the studio as well as any related bank fees.
Ask our office if you would like to sign up for easy automatic payments.
Cash, Credit, and Check payments can be made during office hours.
Accounts will need a credit card on file. If tuition is not paid in time the credit card will be charged, and no late fee will occur.
Accounts must be in good standing for students to take part in classes or performances.
Weather-Related Studio Closure
CAD follows the Calvert School District for weather-related cancellations.
If school was only delayed in the morning, the dance studio will still have classes. Please refer to our website, Facebook, or your email for day of exceptions.
If school was dismissed early, or after-school activities were canceled then classes will be canceled. If the weather worsens after school hours the studio will make a best judgment decision. Please check our Facebook page for updates, or call the studio if you are unsure.
For weekend classes, the studio will update its Facebook page to update you on closure. If you are unsure please check our page or call the studio.
